| Lantern ordering guide |
|
The Lantern lights we provide are delivered in a kit form and will need to be assembled by someone with a reasonable level of competence. It may also be worth considering that larger units will need a minimum of 2 people to handle and to assemble them.
All the Lantern lights will need to be mechanically fixed to a waterproofed builders’ kerb. The builders’ kerb can be constructed from timber, metal or concrete and should be at least 150mm high from the roof level to the top of the kerb. The builders’ kerb also needs to have a flat top to be able to mechanically fix to correctly.
The measurements we require to manufacture your Lantern light are the internal structural opening sizes. If you are using an existing builders’ kerb then those measurement could be the existing internal finish to internal finish sizes. If you are constructing a new builders’ kerb then it might be worth considering the internal finish in your overall sizing. E.g. if your new structural opening is 1500x1500mm then your Lantern light could be ordered at 1470x1470mm. This would mean, initially, the Lantern’s internal face would sit 15mm in, all the way around the internal perimeter. However once you fix your plasterboard (12.5mm) and they are skimmed with a multi finish plaster (2 to 3mm) this will correct that and offer a nice clean finish. Please also remember when manufacturing a builders’ kerb that it is made perfectly square and that before fixing the Lantern into position, that they are both square to each other.
The size options we offer in our store are the maximum structural opening sizes for that option. E.g. If your structural opening is 1470x1470mm then you would need to order from the 1500x1500mm option. However if you structural opening is 1501x1501mm, then you would need to order from the 1750x1750mm option. Please make sure you enter the correct measurements into the boxes provide, when placing your order. If you require any other sizes that are over 2501mm, then please contact our office for a more defined quotation.
We can offer opening windows in the vertical glazing of the Lantern. The options are manual opening (which you will have to reach up to or use a ladder etc. to be able to open them) or a pole operated option (you can stand at floor level to operate). We will supply one pole with the first pole opening window ordered as standard. Depending on the size of the Lantern you can have up to 8 opening vertical windows, of either option, fitted. Please see our chart on each product page for extra help.
We can also offer opening windows in the roof glazing of the Lantern. The options are pole operated (which again you can operate from floor level) or electrically operated (which will need to be commissioned by a professional electrician). All the electrical openers are provided with an open & close switch. Depending on the size of the Lantern you can have up to 4 opening roof windows, of either option, fitted. Please see our chart on each product page for extra help.
We can also offer a climate pack which contains a rain sensor & thermostat which can control up to 4 electrical openers at one time. This option will also need to be commissioned by a professional electrician.
